Step Up 2 : The Streets is as awesome as any sequel can get. Before the show, I was pondering over the possibility of it being a repeat performance of part one - which, mind you, I'll definitely have no objections. If only my sister didn't own the VCD, I probably would have splurge on another Step Up 1 movie ticket for a second round.
In The Streets, they removed the ballet component from the choreography and made it badass hip-hop through and through. Man, did they smoke up the screens. All the dances were hot, hot, hot. Ha! And nobody was more surprised, when Channing (from part one) showed up at the start of the show for a little surprise guest performance. You can't deny it, he still got the moves. Robert Hoffman and Briana Evigan was also a great couple and just watching them dancing with the crew makes you wanna jump up and shake some part of your body! A leg, the head or even your pinky - if you're easily embarassed. The bottom line is, watching it gets you all hyped up with your blood pumping hard and you start to regret not taking up any dance classes till now.
My sis and I agreed unanimously, there was no way to make a comparison betweeen both Step Ups. But if you were to put a gun at my head or threaten me with a crate crammed full of cockroaches, then I would have to say I prefer the choreography in the first episode. I guess the mix of contemporary dance and hip-hop holds more appeal to me....... and of course, because Channing is still my favourite man.
