@countdown to promos - 8wks

i'm done with bio practicals! we were all made to swear that "we will not divulge anything we've done in the lab" so i shall not mention anything till everyone finished with theirs. but overall i would say i wasn't at tiptop condition. screwed up a few steps along the way and my written experimental report was horrendous. didn't have enough time to complete it. yikes! but something that was correct - the experimental object was live. hahaha. and like tadpoles...

THEY. trampolined. OFF. my. FISHNET. too. *groans*

yeah well you can imagine what happened next. i picked them up with my bare hands AGAIN. gross. i guess they have been so tortured by the students over the past few days that they cant wait to receive my tender loving care. *rolls eyes* and though i really find them cute, i am so deliriously happy that there is not going be any SPA practicals in the near weeks. whew.

there had been a few events happening in MJC over the past few days:
o1. security seminar by MINDEF
o2. arrival of baoding students visiting from china
o3. talk with principal regarding MYE results.

the seminar was not really well done, because of firstly the audience and secondly the emcee. well MJC gave me the impression that they are not quite a bunch of outspoken and 'i love national issues' people. so quite a group of people actually started drifting off to wonderland halfway the seminar. but i felt a little angry at those who were talking while the guests are speaking. it's rather disrespectful especially since they came from rather high ranks in the service. BUT, i am most pissed off at the rude and insulting emcee. one of the students who went up to pose a question during the Q&A made quite long a statement before coming on to the question. guess what the emcee said? well, the distinguished master of the ceremony actually commented that the student was very 'lor saw', which means longwinded. hello? even if the student was longwinded, i don't think it's really appropriate to make that statement, say out loud and into the mic before the entire cohort. to think he's still a SENIOR officer in the mindef. *rolls eyes* there are still a tonne of things he did that grate on my nerves but i'm lazy to type. count yourself lucky, officer.

i've really got nothing to say about the principal talk we had. it was supposed to be inspiring and encouraging, but when the whole JC1 cohort left the hall, we were feeling demoralised and depressed. great. like what the principal said 8 weeks into promos and for those who think they can be able to catch up with studies last minute, are always welcomed into her office and let her analyse for you why it is simply not possible. HA! like anyone would walk into her office willingly. she gave an example of a JC2 senior who was talking to her. quoting her words, "he was happy like a lark when he came to find me and told me that he had 104days to study till A'levels", and after ms lai had her word with him, he wanted to find a hole to cry and die. nice encouragement there. good job. gee, that's really freaky.

anyway working on my new GP project! haha. first time i've actually encountered a project with an entire period for presentation which meant it's 50minutes per group. wow. everyone's pulling their hair out trying to lengthen whatever they are planning to say. haha. my group's project title is one of the best one out of the list: "Sweat, Glamour and Beckham - Sporting Celebrities and their Representations". yayy! this is really great cos all of us still have the worldcup fever burning in the blood. and though this is not all about soccer, we are definitely going to broach on that particular sport. *grins*

i'm off to do my research! (: see ya.

@tadpoles

it's been few days since i came here to blog. and i'm all set to rant and rave at all the injustices i've be subjected to for the past week. boo.

the past few days have been excruciatingly long and painful. it was pure torture. the neverending lectures, tutorials and practicals plus a tonne of homework piled up messily on my study. the sheer size of it vaguely resembling mount everest number two. oh goody, i've got a mountain sprouting in my house. not to mention the teachers' attitudes we are exposed to. students with a pinch of bad attitute are being screamed at and condemned. but teachers who carry themselves the same way could be excused for 'being tired and grouchy' or because 'it's you students who are driving them up the wall'. if you don't call that blatant biasness i really don't know what it is. does being tired entitles an individual to flare up and vent his/her frustrations on the innocent bystanders? gosh, then won't everyone on the streets be raving mad? i mean, afterall we all lead such hectic lifestyles. *shrugs* come on. you're not the only exhausted being in school. the least you could do is curb your temper and shutup. gee, it stinks to have you breathing the same air as me. *gagging*

attended a PHOBOS house meeting yesterday (which of course meant that it robbed away another hour from my measly sleeping hours). like all house meetings, though i admit i only went once, it was nothing new and in fact, rather bland. announcements to be made, new goals to be set for the house, a brand new logo designed by kenneth and well the selecting of the individual interhouse games captains. i got coerced into signing up for the tennis captain.

teacher: sarah, come!
me: *walks over* yes?
teacher: you sign up for interhouse tennis cap.
me: me?! why??
teacher: cos nobody sign up marhh.
me: *makes faces*

great. get the noob of all noobs to be captain. excellent choice. *insert applause here* oh yarh and the most funny part was the REAL captain for the tennis school team for girls was there! what a mess. *groans*

i'm having bio SPA exams tomorrow. from all the rumours i heard i'm going to play with some interesting live creatures again. gee, pray for them. i hope i don't scare them out of their little tiny hearts and sent them into shocks like what i did to the tadpoles the last time. well it's not exactly my fault! the tadpoles were just a tad too hyperactive i guess, they simply trampolined off the fishnet and landed themselves onto the table. and i had to picked them up -by hand, eww- because it was faster and i have no desire to watch them suffocate on MY table. i was so grossed out. truth to be told, i have no fear for tadpoles. except that you can't really pin tadpole on to those digusting creatures that swam in my beaker. jeez, they have legs! it's like half sprouting out of their body. follow me say: eww. regardless what may come out tomorrow, i just hope that by the end of it we're both safe and sound. amen.

okay, i'm off to find food. in my crowded brain i seemed to remember stashing a packet of tortilla chips somewhere. *grins*

@cutekids and bands

today is an enriching day. haha.

took a trip down with my projectwork groupies to fufill an appointment we made, with one of the five music therapists in singapore, a month ago. took an extremely exhausting journey down to boon keng and then walked a short distance over to the Rainbow Centre Balestier Special School. you could say it was my first time in a special school and everything was just so fascinating. only two members were allowed to sit in for a therapy session which wanchin and liting went for. so yisen and i were so bored waiting in the admin office, we decided to take a good look at the facilities and surroundings of the school. it was really an eyeopener. it's at that instant you wished you could have grown more pairs of eyes to drink in every detail. the campus was buzzing with activities and the children were making such a ruckus. each classroom is specifically allocated to different therapies - physiotherapy, vocal therapy, and the swimming pool outside was undergoing sessions of hydrotherapy. i had my camera with me, but somehow i had the sudden feeling that i was intruding on their privacy (though the therapist told us we could take photos of their facilities), so i didn't really catch anything on the cam.

the children of the school was really adorable! there was this kid who suddenly felt like he didnt want to move, just lay on the floor and adamantly refused to stand despite reprimandings and struggling attempts by his 'guardian'. it was really hilarious and we were trying our hardest not to laugh out loud at the expense of the poor distressed woman. and of course not to give her the opportunity to turn her wrath on us. LOLS. then there was other kid whom i suspect was a little hyperactive, was jumping up and down the corridor. and the cutest thing that can ever happen was his therapist was also jumping and skipping with him down the corridor. *grins* it was such a polaroid moment! haha. adorable~ each of the kids has their own unique case of disability, but i really can't help but feel the joy in their smiles. they felt so happy with life and school and their therapists.

i love them to bits! *cheers*

anyway i've got new addictions! lols. found out some really nice bands and i like to introduce them on my blog. haha. take it as some form of publicity for them! (:

ALICE NINE! *screams*

this jrock band is hot! haha. alice nine is a visual kei band - basically dressing up in lots of fanciful clothes and sometimes you swear they look like girls. but i think they are really cute. and i love their songs. lols. the favourite out of my favourites is tora! he's simply sooOo kawaii! *grins* i can't rank anyone second because it's so tough trying to decide amongst them.
songs i recommend: velvet, world end anthology, fantasy

secondly... SHAKA LABBITS! *grins*
i don't have a photo of them, because they are more of those "listen to my music, and not look at my face" sort. it's not like they don't have photos taken and mvs made. just that most of their album covers are all pictures and graphics. their main vocalist is a girl and she's the only female in the band. her voice is rather unique though. a little rough but cute all the same. not sure why but she reminds me of tomikovan from DAI. haha. and you know what? i love their name. haha. cute one. (:
songs i recommend: x x x x x, so excited, rollie, cross the borders

and lastly is ashley parker angel and the red jumpsuit apparatus!
was introduced to them only a few weeks ago so i know nuts about them though. but you guys should give these two songs a try:

ashley parker angel - let me go
red jumpsuit apparatus - face down.

they are way beyond fabulous! ^_^

*yawns* the entry is so long again. haha. nites.

@hypocrite

finally i have all my results back. and no, i did not do well. argh.

C - bio. highest grade out of all my subs.
E - maths. mr ng is going to kill us all.
E - generalpaper. got 5/7 for vocab yet still did badly.
S - econs. i expected a BIG U! i'm lucky.
U - chem. which means permanent extra tutorials. boo.

i can never cease to amaze myself. needless to say i did horribly for the midterm exams, and guess what? promos is in two and a half months time with a wider range of topics and even more complicated and mind-boggling questions. *woohoo* wanna predict my grades? lols.

oh well. school today was relatively okay and as usually way too long for my liking. haha. in my opinion everyday should be a wednesday! haha. report to school at 8.30am then finish off everything by 1pm! lols. the ideal jc curriculum that is about to make its entrance possibly... a decade later? haha. there was this yoghurt icecream stall set up today to sell really really fun icecream in order to raise funds. haha. you get to pick 3items from the choices -which range from fruits like strawberries and mango, to oreo cookies and choc chip- for twobucks. then they will blend your choices up together with icecream to create your own personalized dessert! lols. damn cool! haha. tracy ordered an interesting combination of honeydew, mango and oreo! haha. and despite how gross it might sound, it really turned out to be delicious! *smacks lips* too bad the stall only opens for a day. turtles.

today was a day filled with chaos and frenzied craze caused by two girls named ser min and yanhong, who sang and sang and sang the whole day through. -_-" the innocent bystanders (us!) have been bombarded by them to listen to the song 'scandal' every single break and we had to endure their newly composed medley today. o_o

you guys gotta stop! now only if i can find the heavenly solution to switch them OFF...

anyway met with a little incident today that i simply have to mention because i'm so bloody pissed off. yan, ser and i were at a particular fastfood restaurant (we shan't divulge) eating and talking after a tedious shopping of coloured pens at popular! *grins* and sitting beside us was this family of five who were complaining about just about everything. the fries were too salty, i want to make a change of orders (that is after he paid and carried his stuff upstairs).. blah blah. the guy was really a pain in the ass. *nods fervently* he really is! basically making a mountain out of a molehill. and he did succeeded in blowing up some of his displeasure. they wanted a change of this and a change of that (and mind you, they had already started digging into the food). they alerted the manager, whom i have to applaud for showing utmost patience and politeness and resisted the urge to pass her a GEMS card. she was humbly apologising for the food that the 'bullies' deemed it inedible and gotten them a change plus a refund of money. since our table was just right beside them, we could hear the manager apologising profusely. the unreasonable guy is such a stupid hypocrite. he nodded his head and accepted her apologies, yet just as the manager turned away, he phoned the fastfood headquarters to complain about the 'extremely rude services' -quoting his words- that the restaurant is providing. and he also mentioned that the in-charge should reprimand the manager and train her to SMILE more. i thought he was sincerely accepting the apologies by the manager! gee, such underhand means of getting back at others really show how civilised you are. if you don't think you really want to forgive the person don't accept her apology, smile at her and then backstab her. i see no problem in her services and how will you feel should someone threaten to break your ricebowl?

it's people like you who makes a job in the service sector a living nightmare.

@soccer and pizzas

the world cup is over! Italy won, something almost everyone predicted. BUT deep down i was still hoping France could work a miracle. darn! despite everything i still love brazil! haha. get ready for the next cup four years later, and watch Brazil win back their victory! *waves frantically*

MJC is sucha a world-cup-spoiler. they simply don't understand how to enjoy the last bits of the worldcup fever. almost all schools decided to push back their curriculum so that the students can stay up to watch the live at 3AM in the morning and not to worry about being tired for school the next day. BUT. MJC didn't. so the few thousand (okay probably just 2000) had to report back at 730AM and endure the entire school day which ends approximately at 5.15PM. three cheers for those who managed to stay awake on their feet! everyone was so dead and it was obvious from the first lesson of the day - Economics. poor lecturer had totally 0% of participation from the students, regardless he was asking a question or cracking a joke. aww. i think he expected it anyway. lols.

anyway guess what? sunday was my first time at NewYorkPizza! i got such a shock. lols. the pizza is so bloody huge. o_o i think i could have it for BOTH breakfast and lunch. haha. now i know where i should duck to when i'm starving. but there is just this minute and insubstantial problem - they do not provide seats. so.. where are you supposed to lug that humongous cheesefilled pizza to? you'll need to purchase food from the other stores before you can occupy tables they provide and there are hardly any empty, unowned tables and chairs around. bringing it home to eat defeats the purpose of eating OUTSIDE. so unless you have no qualms in sharing your meals with dustmotes in some lonely corner of tampines. think twice before scooping up a pizza to gorge on. haha.

suppose to hand in my projectwork EoM tomorrow. and i haven found a single source of information on music therapy. sighs. i guess i better get moving. lols.

byee.

@hate

sometimes i hate you.

i hate you for controlling my life.
i hate you for always making me feel inferior.
i hate you for all the tears i shed over your hurtful words.
i hate you to make me doubt if it's worthy to be alive.
i hate you for letting me think my life is empty.
i hate you for not respecting my decisions.
i hate you for my hesitation in loving my FATHER.
i hate you for making me hate my life.

i hate myself for hating you.

i don't want to hate you. it's such a strong word.
but the unwanted anger are stacking like dominoes.
for so i fear the day they fall.

i pray to God for his forgiveness
surely it's forbidden to hold such anger.
but i can't help it. i really do.

you bring out the worst in me.

@diet, anyone?

yesterday met up with rach who is currently taking her holidays from australia! *happy*

long time since i met her and though we do keep in contact through msn, i must say the feeling is totally different! (: we settled so comfortably at tampines macdonalds, chitchating and gossipping just about anythin under the sun, that we didn't keep track of the time. *guilt* sorry for hogging the table. lols. it's a pity.... we talked so much and took so little photos. haha.

rach and me

and the entire gang of 3!

she's going back on the 20th. aww. sads. but wish her good luck for her exams results! it's gonna be better than me at the very least. lols.

ahh. speaking of results. i got back another two papers already. E for maths and C for bio. the good news is i passed both! haha. and the bad news, i'm only one percentage point above the passing mark for maths. sighs. in truth, i'm rather please with my bio results. surrounded by a haze of E, S and U grades for the past week had been more than demoralising for me, so something else, anything else will definitely be a happy distraction. (: now. we'll just wait patiently for economics. LOLS.

i took my height and weight yesterday! i've grown a centimetre to stand at 158cm! *whoops with joy* BUT. i've gained weight over the holidays. sighs. must be all the terrible temptations of junk food and chocolates. *groans* seems like EVERYBODY gained weight. except for my dear junjun mama who lost 3kg over the hols because she was sick. -_-"

let's go on a diet. NOW.

@so dead

wee. just finished my bio experimental report! *happy* so decided to slack for awhile before i get back to other stuff. (:

today we finally got our first lesson with mr owen tan, our new biology tutor. we were all teasing him about why he left germany so fast and that even though england lost in the world cup, he should have just stayed there and finished watching the matches. afterall we were in NO hurry to start lessons. wahaha. sad to say, i still prefer ms soh. sighs. he knows his stuff alright, if he could just improve on his explanation then everything will just flow smoothly. we almost wanted to strangle him for his complicating explanation that instead of solving the doubts, created more. and then burst out in laughter when he continuously misunderstood the questions posted -which of cos led to a wrong explanation. in addition, i thought his speed was a little slow. bear with me for i'm still very much more familiar with ms soh's constant chatter. *ahem* don't get me wrong, there IS a compliment somewhere in there. haha. but overall i can't put mr tan down cos he is a nice guy and despite everything we shall try to accomodate him. *stucks out tongue*

no sights of exams papers today. but lots of reports on them. predictably none sounds good. had econs post-mortem right in the early morning. the lecturers said it wasn't well done. -i'm so dead- then we had maths tutorial and mr ng said there were ten failures. the highest was a B and that person was the one and only B. gee, that sounds really comforting. -can i die again?- then ms soh had to add the lousy results of bio in the flame. *drum roll* 70% of the cohort failed! goody goody. i've never died so many times a day in my life.

can life get any lousier? *sighs*

anyway. i realise i took quite a bit of photos during the june hols! haha. though it's quite sometime already i just like to share! (:

firstly.... the intertidal walk at st. john island!

the lovely seagrapes, seacucumber and a hairycrab!

then i went tekong for my brother's passing-out-parade! the view was incredible.

and lastly, shopping with the frequencies! (:

well that's all. i'm off. nites!

@maddness

got stucked in my writing. sighs.

the story flowed so easily when i started out, then with just a measly four chapters and BAM! i got inflicted with the stupid writer's block. seriously i need it out before i lose my storyline. argh. maybe i should get ying to do her thing. you know.. like accio sarah'smentalblock! wahaha. that will do it nicely. *grins* well it's not like i don't have ideas. but they sort of flood my brain with so many different plots and outcomes that i don't have an inkling to what is the best one. should have grabbed on to the first thread of thought. *whacks head*

today's a really bad day. apparently all the 'cross your fingers and hope' charms failed because i flunk my chemistry.

yes. i flunked my chem. gee that's nice.

oh what's worse, my tutor is having a whale of time generously handing out sarcastic remarks that are simply so hilarious, you contradict yourself by laughing, cursing and frowning -all at the same time. that's sure to be a talent. oh and to rub it in, i had three periods of chemistry out of the what? four periods? *rolls eyes* it had to be today. just my luck. wait. just my luck? i want to watch that movie! *wails*

what? don't look at me like that. i really do want to watch that! but i want my CARS too. blahh. life sucks. oh it wasn't yesterday, but i changed my mind. now it does.

life sucks. *back to writing, plots and mental blocks* that rhymes...

shit i'm so madd.

@tribute

yippee! i've finally gotten myself a brand new blog with a brand new layout. *grins*

it's been like... months? haven't got a proper blog since diary-x crashed. haha. after suffering for so long its now time for a new place to pour all my woes! hehe. well guess you're wondering why prettyshells. that's because it's a known fact that sarah the turtle -yes, that's me- is shell-less. aww. so sad. yups. that's why i thought to create a place in tribute to all the prettyshells out there that doesn't belong to me. wahaha. sadistic? i think so too. *winks* well. there's another reason that prompted the name.... i couldn't think of others. not 'cant think' in the sense that i can't decide on a name. but 'cant think' as in ALL the names i've wanted are taken! argh. this totally sucks. then again i guess it's expected 'cos blogspot has simply sooo many users. oh well. prettyshells is a pretty name so i shall just stick to it.

this time the layout is on ayumi again! haha. i'm so upset that my version nine for the previous blog cannot be used. haha. so i've done another one on a picture from ayumi's bold and delicious single. gosh i simply love her dress. it's so prettttyyy. *gushes on about ayu*

oh anyway mid year exams are over! yayy. though i am pretty sure i've done rather badly, i'm happy all the same that it's history. just cross your fingers -and mine of cos- that i've not flunked any. erhh. let's exclude economics from the list. haha. that's a definite flunker. after exams had a totally enjoyable six day break from school! went shopping with the frequencies (yanhong, tracy, ser) ying and xinyi separately, my brother's 21st birthday chalet at aranda and many many hours of julie garwood! it still felt a little short though. and i'm to report back to school tomorrow. turtles. i don't even think i can wake up at six in the morning anymore. grrr.

let the alarm clock do it's job then. *shrugs*
